Frolic Cooling Stems Compared: Cooling Beads, Vibrant Beads or Spiral?

The LimeLight Frolic has three glass cooling stems: a cooling beads stem, a vibrant (coloured) beads stem and a spiral stem. All three are made from borosilicate glass, slot straight into the stock plastic mouthpiece and are designed to cool the vapor before it reaches you. The two bead stems are 130 mm and the spiral stem is 110 mm.

This article compares them using what is stated on each product page, so you can choose without guessing. If your main problem is vapor that is too warm, start with our fixes for hot or harsh Frolic vapor first, because airflow, temperature and a clean cooling unit matter just as much as the stem. For the full range of parts, see the LimeLight Frolic accessories guide.

How a Cooling Stem Works

A cooling stem is a glass tube that replaces the glass or plastic section between the heating chamber and your mouth. Inside it, either beads or a spiral increase the surface area that the vapor touches. More surface area and more contact time give the vapor a chance to lose heat before you draw it in. The product pages describe this as smoother, more comfortable vapor, and the glass path is easy to keep clean.

None of the three uses water. They are a simple, dry way to cool the draw, and you can use a stem together with the direct plug-in side bubbler later if you want to add water as well.

Cooling Beads Stem (130 mm)

The Glass Cooling Beads Stem has integrated clear glass beads inside the vapor path. According to the product page, the beads increase the surface area inside the vapor path, which helps heat to dissipate and gives smoother, more comfortable vapor. It is 130 mm long, made of borosilicate glass and designed exclusively for the Frolic.

Vibrant Cooling Beads Stem (130 mm)

The Vibrant Glass Cooling Beads Stem is the coloured version. Its internal beads are coloured glass, and the product page says they increase the surface area to dissipate heat and add visual flair, while the pure glass vapor path keeps flavour clear. It is also 130 mm long and made of borosilicate glass for the Frolic.

Spiral Cooling Stem (110 mm)

The Spiralled Glass Cooling Stem uses an internal spiral pathway instead of beads. The product page says the spiral slows and conditions the airflow, which increases vapor contact time and surface area and helps dissipate heat. It is 110 mm long, which makes it 20 mm shorter than the bead stems.

All three are third-party accessories made by The Vapetrix, not official LimeLight parts. Each one inserts directly into the stock plastic mouthpiece of the Frolic, with no tools or modifications needed.

Which One Should You Choose?

We do not have lab tests that rank these stems against each other, so we will not claim that one cools better than another. The product pages describe the same basic benefit for all three, and the differences are practical. Use these simple rules:

  • Cooling beads or vibrant beads? The two bead stems are the same length, use the same material and fit in the same way. The only difference stated on the product pages is that the vibrant stem has coloured beads and the standard stem has clear beads. The vibrant stem costs a little more. Choose vibrant if you like the look, and choose the standard stem if you prefer clear glass or want the lower price.
  • Beads or spiral? The spiral stem is 110 mm against 130 mm for the bead stems, so it is the more compact option and the lowest priced of the three. Choose the spiral if you want a shorter stem, and a bead stem if you prefer the longer glass path.
  • Not sure? Pick the standard cooling beads stem. It is the plainest of the three and does the same job described on all the product pages.

Whichever you choose, a stem will not fix a clogged cooling unit or a setting that is too hot, so check those as well.

What About the Plain Glass Stems?

The short 70 mm, angled 110 mm and straight 110 mm glass stems are not cooling stems. They have no beads or spiral inside, so pick one of them for comfort or portability rather than for cooling.

Fitting and Cleaning

To fit a stem, insert it into the stock plastic mouthpiece of the Frolic. The Vapetrix stems are designed exclusively for the LimeLight Frolic, so please do not try to use them on other devices, and do not assume that stems made for other devices will fit the Frolic.

The product pages recommend cleaning with isopropyl alcohol. Rinse well and let the glass dry completely before you use it again. Our guide to cleaning glass cooling stems safely covers the general method, and our article on what makes a good cooling stem explains why the design matters. If you are curious about the same idea on another device, our article comparing cooling beads and spiral stems on the TinyMight covers the TinyMight range, which is made for that device and not for the Frolic.

Quick Answers

Do I need any tools or extra parts? No. The product pages say each stem inserts directly into the stock plastic mouthpiece with no tools, modifications or extra parts.

Are these official LimeLight accessories? No. The product pages state that they are high-quality third-party accessories designed by The Vapetrix to fit the LimeLight Frolic.

Will a cooling stem stop the “Device too hot” message? Not by itself. That message is about the device, not the stem. Follow the steps in our hot or harsh vapor article, and contact the retailer or manufacturer if it keeps appearing.

Should I add water as well? A stem and water solve the same problem in different ways. A stem is the dry, simple option, and you can move to the side bubbler later if you want more cooling.

Final Thoughts

The three Frolic cooling stems do the same job in slightly different ways. Choose the vibrant beads for colour, the standard beads for clear glass, or the spiral for a shorter stem at a lower price. You can browse all of them in the LimeLight Frolic accessories, parts and stems collection, or return to the accessories guide for the rest of the range.
